What better way to come back to book reviewing than with a revamp by Neil Gaiman? I have to be honest and tell you right now: I adore him. He is my writer goals. His style is unique and frank … Continue reading
So, I’ve been a bit slow lately, but I have established a new hobby/business since I’ve been gone. I don’t know why I got it in my head, but I wanted to make jewelry. And not just any kind, but the geeky kind. So, I started Burning Bright Designs, which is inspired by one of my favorite poems, “The Tyger” by William Blake (even more geekiness). So here are a few of my designs:
I plan on doing more Doctor Who and Game of Thrones pendants as well, but these are some of the first. They are either $10-$12 depending on the details/work. If you have any suggestions or comments, or perhaps you would like to order one, please let me know. I will also do custom work (as well as with photos). I hope you will at least check out my Facebook!
I really didn’t think I was going to make this post. I woke up Sunday morning and the door to my apartment was wide open and my cat was missing. I’m an absolute fool for my cat, Binx. He is … Continue reading
I feel like I’ve just walked out of an emotional highstorm. Forgive my language, but damn. Sanderson just surprises me every time; I always expect is quality to slip, but instead I find myself caught up in his books all … Continue reading
Hello readers! I wish I had more for you than this run-of-the-mill apology, but unfortunately I’ve been swamped with work, schoolwork, editing on my university’s literary magazine, and trying to read in-between all of that. Unfortunately, the road to graduation is not easy, but it will come soon (in May). For now, I will tell you what to expect in the next few weeks.
- I’m hoping to get done with Words of Radiance (WoR) within the next few days and will post on that by Friday if all goes according to plan. I know I usually post reviews on Wednesdays, but exceptions have to be made.
- On March 19th, I will have a post up on The Waking Dreamer. It’s definitely a unique story, but has taken a back burner thanks to WoR.
- I’m going to try to have something up about the fantasy genre next Friday, but we might have to diverge from the traditional book path. Fantasy does encompass more than just novels.
- Two Wednesdays from now, I will post a review of The Goblin Emperor, which I would have posted sooner, but Tor wants me to wait. And since my dream is to be on their payroll one day, I’m going to do what they say.
I would love to get some feedback from you on what you would like to see more of on the site, so any tips, suggestions, etc. would be welcome. Tell me what you want to read about!
On the WoR front, I have made a great deal of progress, and actually am two thirds through with the book. It has some great quotes, one-liners, and new characters which we’ll discuss as soon as possible. If there’s any questions you have about the book, please let me know and I will do my best to answer all of them when I review it. Until then, happy reading!
So, I’ve decided to do this new series the Friday before the next month starts in which I discuss five books released that month. Unfortunately, I won’t always review the books I feature here, at least until I’m making enough … Continue reading
Fantasy is already popular enough for me, but I have been pondering this question lately. We suddenly have, at least, a couple of generations that have been reading dystopian, whatever you’d classify books about angels, and alas, vampire books. There … Continue reading
In honor of Valentine’s Day, I decided to look back across my career as a reader and ponder my favorite couples in fantasy. To be honest, I’ve forgotten a great deal of books I read in high school, so this … Continue reading
No book in the fantasy genre is complete without a good magic system in my opinion, though books like LoTR don’t really apply (or where there isn’t really a magic system just godly interference). We all have our favorites, and … Continue reading
So, I read something different than epic fantasy or a self-published dark YA novel. I know it’s astounding, but my Kindle actually produced something good in front of me, which I ate (not literally). Yes, I, the e-book hater, used … Continue reading
